Summary

Contemplating the Native American Ghost Dance.

The rally cry shattered the warm summer day

Upon great steeds the cavalry cleaved our peaceful ways

The First of the Earth rose from the flames to say

"Dance with the ghosts and you will be spared the malay."

All stood brave amidst smoke, flame and fear

Our arrows whistled into the horizon but all we could hear

Was the voice of the rifle that sang so clear

To fell our young, our old, our women - the ones we held dear

We danced of the ghost until the last was gone

Our dance bound our souls to the passion that became our daughters and sons

We'll dance in their dreams for hundreds of years

And we'll dance with their spirit until they hear our song

By a distant hill, we were once a peaceful tribe

Follow me back to share my happiness

For I once had that which you now seek to gain
